Our focus is to provide individuals like ourselves with casual and comfortable natural fibers, in fashion conscious designs suitable for any occasion. We adhere to superior quality standards in our designs and production, as well as in our customer service and sales practices. Our goal is to make finding great value and satisfaction much easier for web users. Island Importer is run by the original founders and owners, Mychaela and Sangeet.
Island
Importer was born in the summer of 2000, when Mychaela and Sangeet ventured to Bali in celebration of their newfound love.
Within two months of meeting, the two were on their way to Indonesia (Sangeet had to
get in quite a bit of surfing before work began). Visiting secluded areas of Malaysia, Sumatra and Nias, and tiny atolls in the middle of the Indian Ocean, Mychaela and Sangeet were on the edge of what would grow to become a grand enterprise. Once in the refreshing oasis of Bali, they worked with
tailors to improve upon local designs and produce original ideas. Both always manage to mix pleasure with business adventures
(that's surfing and spear fishing for Sangeet, shopping sprees and Thai Iced Tea for Mychaela,
and great food for the both), because enjoyment and happiness is the
essence of this business.
To this day Island Importer still supports the same tailors and suppliers that helped get our original labels started. Mychaela and Sangeet are always eager to learn
the languages and customs of friends abroad, and
have become quite close to the tailors and co-workers. Our factories are small, relaxed, happy, and humane.
